Some of my Plays…
Young Fools
Owen and Bernie, two young adults derailed before they even get started in life, meet at a Queer dive bar in Chicago. In the throes of intense loneliness, with a chronic need to mask their trauma, they jump head first into a fast and ferocious friendship fueled by addiction. Over the course of the night, they divulge secrets and go on adventures. What happens when you crave love from another human being, when really, you must find it within yourself first? Young Fools asks us to question our perception of friendship, shame, and the sacrifice that comes with radical self love.

Joy & The Whale
Joy has just found out she is pregnant, and must make a choice. Feeling trapped within a conservative town, and isolated by her controlling Mother, she decides to take a road trip from Arizona to California. On top of it all, Roe v. Wade has just been struck down, so the ticking clock on her back is even heavier. When she finds safety in the oasis that is The Whale Diner, she learns from the women who live there and begins to build a sense of self. A riff off of the story of Jonah & The Whale, this play examines generations of women as they explore choice, morals, learned behavior, and unrealistic expectations.

Sugar Free Popsicles
The Matriarch of the family is in a battle with her mind. Pearl is struggling with early onset Alzheimer's, and begins to see visions of her brother, Lou, who died when they were younger. While Mitch grieves his wife's loss of her sense of self, his daughter -Callie - cannot help but compare this love to her new relationship with Emmett. What does it mean to grieve someone that is still alive? Sugar Free Popsicles asks us what grief looks like when it seeps around us, how love changes in each stage of a relationship, and how family bonds are ever evolving as we get older.
